About Driftwood

Based out of Toronto, ON, Driftwood is the collective effort of filmmaker/ photographers Jesse Korgemaa & Zachary Rose.

It is really interesting to look back and think about how we began doing what we do. Driftwood started with 2 friends travelling all over, aimlessly. Starting in Australia we began taking photos of everything we were doing. After that, we travelled across the USA in a campervan (seen in the first photo) hoping to see some friends and some rocks. Driftwood started with the friendships we had and the friendships we made. Driftwood started with the pit stops and the the break downs, in the adventuring in forests waiting for someone to bring us gas. We started with the hitchhikers we picked up and shared stories with. We started with sneaking into the YMCA in Williston, North Dakota just to use its Sauna. With being invited into a Pizza Hut kitchen to make ourselves meals for the next few days. Driftwood started with Pappi in flagstaff, Arizona. For us, it is all about telling the story the way that it happens.

Jesse Korgemaa

Hey! I am Jesse and I am co-owner of driftwood.

I love all things story; books, movies, music, but most importantly life. There is unmatched beauty that is found in real peoples stories, which is why I've always been drawn to documentaries.

I got married in June 2012 to the most wonderful woman I have ever known. I understand what its like to plan a wedding, and I understand budget. But I also understand the value of preserving life as it happened. Our goal is not just to show up on the day, film what we think is important and hand it over. We want to get to know you so that we can understand what is important to you on your wedding day. We want to present your day with sounds and images that will bring to life all the emotions that you felt on the day.

On a more personal side I love Jesus, reading books, and good conversation. I love city life, cycling and my bride. I always love meeting new people so please feel free to send us an email so we can start getting to know each other.

Zachary Rose

Hello Hello, I am Zach and I am Co-owner of Driftwood!

I love going on late night bike rides, reading books, drinking all kinds of root beers and, of course, playing any Zelda game.

Some of the most important things in my life are the people in it, I am so fortunate to have a group of friends who all support each others passion.

We love hearing from new people and getting to get to know you and your love. We want to learn all of the stories of your relationship so when it comes to your wedding we are able to put together a story that is uniquely yours.

Katie + Chris: Engaged!

A few weeks ago our friend Katie Hill shared the news that her boyfriend, Chris, had popped the question (and she said yes!). For their engagement shoot we ended up getting candy, hot chocolate and a blanket together for a typical fall picnic. Jesse and I took them to Ashbridges in Toronto, ON and had them drink their hot beverages, eat candy, and have some fun. These are a few of the shots from their picnic. They are getting married next fall and Driftwood will be shooting their photos as well as their wedding film, stay tuned!

Jesse + Emma: You Are My Sunshine

This Past June Driftwood’s very Own Jesse Korgemaa married his lady love Emma. I (Zach) had the pleasure of joining a few great men by Jesse’s side in his wedding party. Our close friends in New Leaf Wedding Cinema offered to capture the day on video for Jesse and Emma. It was one of the most love-filled days I have ever experienced and I think that really comes across in their video. Their Love is Honest, Simple and Big. Their love spreads to all of us who call them friends. This is the Trailer for their big day and I hope you love it.

Tim + Tara : Hello Beautiful

Tara & Tim are as authentic as they come. From their handmade and personalized details that were present all day, to the tears shed during their first look. They are real. When Tara originally contacted us she had to regretfully decline due to budgeting reasons. However behind the scene’s Tara’s father had approached me to discuss getting the video for her as a gift. She was excited to say the least.

Ps. Neither Zach, I or my wife let the dance floor go to waste. We danced. Hard.

Amanda + Kevin: Engagement

A couple of weeks ago I met up with my sister and her Fiancé to shoot some engagement photos. I asked her to meet me at Bluffer’s Park in Scarborough. It was such a pleasure to get to shoot some photos for them. We will also be shooting their wedding film next summer so keep an eye open for that! We had a fun day full of photos, parking difficulties, and of course, fire ants. I Hope you love these!

Steph + Ben : Engagement

Steph & Ben are not only budding wedding photographers but they are growing into close friends. Steph was also one of the first people to see Zach and I when we returned from our first long roadtrip where our creative vision was birthed. She was living with a long time friend that we were visiting and still claims to remember what we smelt like after almost 2 months on the road. To say that there are multiple tiers of relationship between us would be an understatement.
We are so excited to have been invited to capture their big day next september.
